Quiet time with God is a very vital part of our relationship with him. It is one path to a deeper growth and more knowledge of God as we spend more time in his presence each new day at very minute or hour

The psalmist understands this and that was the reason he cries out to God and said “but I will sing of your strength, in the morning I will sing of your love; for you are my fortress, my refuge in times of trouble”.

So, you understand that our quite time with God is a time of refreshment just like taking a cold bath early in the morning to get prepared for a bright day.

I discovered the problem with most believers or rather the question on their lips is how exactly I spend time with God.  For those who do not know what to do when they are with God and think quiet time is that boring time when you need to set an alarm and hope time fleets by so fast so you can get up with an air of justification that you actually prayed and also so that you could find a common ground to hold God responsible if anything goes wrong during the day

I do have to tell you one truth and that is: you spend time with God not for material gains but rather for intimacy

Now, precious has talked much right? Lol.. Let us just jump right into this important routines and ideas that should not be boring but adventurous

I always begin my quiet time by entering into God’s presence. This is done through praise! I always begin by praying out to God sweet praises of adoration and thanksgiving!

Just like the psalmist: “I will enter his gates with thanksgiving in my mouth…..”

Need a little help with this? Simply answer the question: Who is God to me?

Do you look at God as your rescuer? Your friend? comforter? faithful provider? We have all had unique and personal experiences with the Lord and therefore associate Him with different things. Praise Him for what comes to your mind first. Then fill in with other things from the Bible.

Do you know all of the amazing things that the Bible says about our God? He is called many names throughout the Scriptures that reveal to us His nature. It always elevates my time with Jesus when I purposely use His Biblical names. It can truly help you to feel the Holy Spirit within and around you.

Below, I have put together a list of bible verses that could help you praise God. Feel free to save it and use it when you pray and praise the Lord!

Another great way that I love praising God is by reading aloud from the book of Psalm. Psalm is full of songs and prayers praising the Lord and declaring who He is.

Try reading these passages during your next quiet time, saying them aloud and meaning them in your heart, and watch as the presence of the Holy Spirit fills you up!

After praising and anointing, I move on to making prayers. Then, to make personal requests, intercede for my friend’s and family’s requests, and any matter of the world or others that I see needs prayer.

I mostly pray in tongues, it helps me get charged up and build my faith to the peak. It feels like I advance more spiritually and pray the kind of prayers God wants me to each time.

I recently learnt of keeping a prayer journal. Using a prayer journal or list is very handy because it helps us to remember all of the things that others have asked us to pray for, as well as keep our thoughts organized while we pray!

Every prayer request is important, and nothing is too big or too small to bring to God.

Next, I love digging into the Bible and studying God’s Word.

2 Timothy 3:16-17 tells us, “All Scripture is God-breathed and useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting, and training in righteousness, so that the servant of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.” I love to search through the scriptures.

It is clear here that the Lord puts extreme importance on the Bible and why we should study it. As Christians, we must prepare for everything we may encounter in this life, and God’s Word is our tool to do just that!

If you aren’t sure where to start when it comes to studying the Word, I recommend Romans especially for new born gains. It explains a lot on newness of life and righteousness. The book of Ephesians is a great start for older Christians, it is one of my favourite letters.

Sometimes, I love to switch things up with a particular devotional that would last for five days or a verse by verse study of a book in the bible and other times start with my 3 months plan which requires me reading at least 16 chapters of the bible.

In the past, I didn’t really enjoy reading the Bible until I figured out how to make it fun!

Youversion app for one has a lot of devotionals you can choose from and one of the perks is that you have friends who are also on a particular plan and encourage you with their finished plans and bookmarks.

Meditation is a deeper step into an intimate relationship with God; it brings you into a supernatural realm of deeper understanding of the scripture. Mediation to me is like hugging God tightly, pulling closer to his knees to hear his whispers and understand and see mysteries other persons may not see.

There is really no fixed pattern to enjoying quiet time and intimacy with god. Switch up things everyday to enjoy your conversation with God. For instance,You can choose to start with prayers or praises or just a little bible reading before your bible study. In all, have a blissful time with God.

Sharing is fun!
